We are looking for a skilled and experienced Oracle and MS SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our client's team on an initial 5-month daily rate contract. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of the organisations databases, while optimizing them to meet operational needs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Oracle and MS SQL databases to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure high availability and consistent database performance across environments.
  • Implement and monitor database security protocols to protect sensitive data.
  • Perform database tuning and optimization to enhance system performance.
  • Oversee database patch management and upgrade processes.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies.
  • Collaborate with development and ICT teams on data-related projects and initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot database issues.
  • Respond promptly to application support requests and monitor alerts to ensure system stability.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience as an Oracle and MS SQL DBA, with hands-on expertise in Oracle 19c and MS SQL versions 2012/2016/2019.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices, including high availability solutions such as Oracle Dataguard, Oracle RAC, and MS SQL clustering.
  • Solid experience in database performance tuning and optimization using tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and Idera SQL Diagnostic Manager.
  • Proficiency in database security management to ensure compliance and data protection.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery processes, particularly with tools like CommVault.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities, able to collaborate effectively across departments.

Additional Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with cloud-based DBAs (AWS RDS, MS Azure).
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with automation, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Expertise with AWS Data Migration Service (DMS) for cloud DB refreshes.
  • Oracle WebLogic administration experience.
  • Experience with RedHat Ansible Automation Platform.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle CDC – GoldenGate.
